airtel has a SMS based chat service named M-Chat. This is a simple and fast chat application that enables text-based, interpersonal communication across mobile & popular chat messenger users like Yahoo, MSN & ICQ.
M-Chat avails 3 kinds of interactive chatting sections. They are, as follows:
- Make-a-friend (One-on-One basis chat)
- Joining group by entering to a Chat-room & initiate chatting
- Joining to Yahoo, MSN & ICQ messenger friends
How to Start:
To start a chat session, all you need to do is type ‘go’ and send SMS to 8989. Then you will be instructed to type any of the follows for enter.

2 - To do one-on-one chatting (make-a-friend), you will be instructed to type as follows:
Type ‘FF’ and reply to 8989.
- To join a chat-room, you will be instructed to type as follows:
Type ‘CC’ and reply to 8989.
- To join yahoo or hotmail or ICQ messenger friends, you will be instructed to type as follows:
Type ‘MM’ and reply to 8989.
**Whichever you select and type as per abovementioned syntax, it would instruct with directives in an interactive way.

How to Register:
type ‘R <>user name <> age <> gender <> location’ and send to short code 8989. E.g. R Asif 24 M Dhaka.
How to Search & join:
Here are two options. You may search for any of the following:
- Search in ‘make-a-friend’ section & add friend.
- Search for ‘Chat Rooms’ & joining
Search in ‘make-a-friend’ section & add friend:
A registered user types ‘S <> age <> gender <> location’ and sends to short code 8989. E.g. S 22 F Dhaka
Search in ‘chat room’ section & joining
A registered user sends ROOMS to 8989. Then the subscriber will reply by typing the room name, for example Fun and send to the short-code.
How to Chat in Yahoo, MSN & ICQ Messenger
At First, the subscriber will type MM to 8989. Once the subscriber selects any of the chat room, he/she will log in to individual messenger with the respective room’s syntax.
Charge: Tk.1+VAT per SMS
In case of any difficulty, you can type ‘Help’ and reply to 8989.
