What is Globe Roam?

Our Globe Roam facilities provide you with the freedom of using your existing Airtel number when you travel outside Bangladesh.

The roaming countries that are covered under our International Roaming (IR) network, you can use of your Airtel number to avail all Voice, SMS, GPRS and other VAS facilities with the foreign operators.

What is IR SMS ?

IR SMS allows you to stay in touch with your contacts and loved ones via SMS only when you roam around the world. This service gives you the option to receive and send SMS using your Airtel number when you are abroad, without having to activate voice and other regular VAS services.

What is GPRS Roaming?

GPRS is acronym for "General Packet Radio Service". Simply, GPRS is a way for transmitting data over a mobile phone. Besides access to Internet, GPRS supports access to the standard WAP. Now roaming subscribers can access their emails, play online games, exchange media-rich contents, and do so much more.

How can I get the International Roaming (Globe Roam, GPRS & IR SMS) services?

To get the International Roaming (Globe Roam & IR SMS) services, all you need are:

* Airtel (Postpaid) Connection with ISD facility

* International Credit Card (own name) / RFCD Account / FC Account

* Valid International Passport

* Security Deposit of BDT 10,000 (Refundable) for Globe Roam and

* Security Deposit of BDT 1,000 (Refundable) for IR SMS.

What documents should I need to submit to avail the International Roaming (Globe Roam & IR SMS) services ?

To avail the Globe Roam or IR SMS facility of International Roaming Services, you need to submit the certain documents to us as follows:

* Duly filled subscription form

* Photocopy of valid International Passport (first 7 pages)

* Photocopy of valid International Credit Card / RFCD Account / FC Account

How much Security Deposit do I need to pay to avail the International Roaming (Globe Roam & IR SMS) services?

To avail the International Roaming Services, you have to pay :

* Security Deposit of BDT 10,000 (Refundable) for Globe Roam and

* Security Deposit of BDT 1,000 (Refundable) for IR SMS.

How I can activate my Globe Roam services ?

Once you have submitted all of your required documents and settle the necessary payments at any Airtel Care, your number will automatically be activated shortly to use from the system.

How to make calls in the visited country?

Making a call while Roaming is no different than making a call in Bangladesh. Only the rules reverse, as the Roaming network of the visiting country becomes your home network for the time you are traveling there.

How will others access to my airtel number while I am in roaming abroad?

Your family, friends and colleagues from Bangladesh, can call to your airtel number in the usual way (like only dial 016) and they will only be charged for a routine call to any airtel number.

Overseas callers will need to dial the full international access code for Bangladesh followed by your airtel number. For instance, while you are traveling in UAE, your friends from UK need to dial “+ 88016".

IR SMS service can be activated from your handset using the Airtel Menu:

Please Note

• Before activating IR SMS from your Airtel Menu, you need to meet certain eligibility conditions and submit a few documents to us. (Please see the subscription requirements for IR SMS services.)
• All incoming and out going voice calls will be barred after activating IR SMS therefore please activate IR SMS just before leaving Bangladesh.
• To reactivate your voice call facilities after coming back to Bangladesh, you need to deactivate IR SMS. This can be done from the Airtel Menu (by clicking on ‘Deactivate’ inside the ‘Intl.Roam SMS’ menu)
• Standard SMS charge is applicable for activation/deactivating SMS Roaming.
• VAT applicable.

GPRS Roaming

what is it

GPRS Roaming is a service, which allows our inbound and outbound subscribers, present in the roaming, to use mobile Internet. You will have access to Internet resources, find latest news, can communicate with near and dear ones through email/ instant messaging & conduct business correspondence. All of these can be accomplished while you are away from domestic network!

GPRS roaming is only available to our postpaid customers while they are using IR services. You need to have a handset that supports GPRS services; most of the widely available handsets in the market provide GPRS support.

How to use

To use GPRS-roaming service in Bangladesh or outside Bangladesh, no additional changes in the settings are required. You may use this service on the basis of GPRS configurations activated in Airtel network. When roaming abroad, the configurations will latch to other international networks automatically.

Key Features of GPRS roaming service:

• It allows internet access using PDA/Laptop together.
• Web surfing and checking email accounts through high end handset or laptop.
• Download any contents like wall paper, ringtone, songs, movie clips, videos, animated logos, themes and many more.

Activation of GPRS Services

There is no separate procedure for activating GPRS Services. When you activate our Globe Roam Services, you are eligible to use GPRS services automatically. To view the activation process, please refer to Globe Roam activation process

• GPRS roaming services can be used in selected international networks depending on Airtel’s GPRS coverage list.
• For using GPRS roaming mobile handset has to be compatible with the features to use the GPRS roaming services.
• While using IR SMS service, GPRS roaming services will not be activated. ?

Dial the international access code (+/00), the country code, area code for fixed phone or mobile code (without leading zero) before calling.
