GPRS Roaming

what is it

GPRS Roaming is a service, which allows our inbound and outbound subscribers, present in the roaming, to use mobile Internet. You will have access to Internet resources, find latest news, can communicate with near and dear ones through email/ instant messaging & conduct business correspondence. All of these can be accomplished while you are away from domestic network!

GPRS roaming is only available to our postpaid customers while they are using IR services. You need to have a handset that supports GPRS services; most of the widely available handsets in the market provide GPRS support.

How to use

To use GPRS-roaming service in Bangladesh or outside Bangladesh, no additional changes in the settings are required. You may use this service on the basis of GPRS configurations activated in Airtel network. When roaming abroad, the configurations will latch to other international networks automatically.

Key Features of GPRS roaming service:

  • It allows internet access using PDA/Laptop together.
  • Web surfing and checking email accounts through high end handset or laptop.
  • Download any contents like wall paper, ringtone, songs, movie clips, videos, animated logos, themes and many more.

Activation of GPRS Services

There is no separate procedure for activating GPRS Services. When you activate our Globe Roam Services, you are eligible to use GPRS services automatically. To view the activation process, please refer to Globe Roam activation process

Note:

  • GPRS roaming services can be used in selected international networks depending on Airtel’s GPRS coverage list.
  • For using GPRS roaming mobile handset has to be compatible with the features to use the GPRS roaming services.
  • While using IR SMS service, GPRS roaming services will not be activated. ?

For making any international/ local outgoing call while roaming:

Dial the international access code (+/00), the country code, area code for fixed phone or mobile code (without leading zero) before calling.

Example: if you are calling a fixed phone in Canberra Australia you will dial
+61 2 XXXX XXXX
or

0061 2 XXXX XXXX

For calling back to Bangladesh while roaming:

Dial the international access code (+/00), the country code, area code for fixed phone or mobile code (without leading zero) before calling.

Example: if you are calling a mobile phone in Bangladesh you will dial
+88016XXXXXXXX
or
0088016XXXXXXXX

Note: Subscriber can receive voice call/ SMS from anywhere in the world while roaming abroad.
